Its such a good idea to let kids help in the kitchen. Our 4 kids - all in their twenties now - all cook. This is because when they were little and eagerly asked if they could help, we said yes (when we really wanted to say No - the mess was always phenomonal!).
Its also a great idea, and education, to let kids try 'funny' foods, although hold it on the lobster and caviar or they could bankrupt you.
Good idea getting the little ones to eat a variety of exotic foods, Jed now eats exactly the same as E & myself.
